2mm (0.080") thickness

Manufactured here at our works by laying up a single layer of 200g/sqm woven carbon fibre (fiber) fabric either side of 5 layers of 300g/sqm Uni Directional (UD) carbon fibre reinforcement laid up in an alternate 0/90 degree to format and cured under a vacuum at 120 Deg C, which produces a 2.0mm (0.080") thickness (that's 80 thousandths of an inch ).  Incredibly strong and getting towards the stiffer end of the scale in carbon sheet terms - 100% carbon and made from the quality of prepreg reinforcement we use, really is a true aerospace grade product, with an amazing surface finish and a great piece of 'raw' material for making a wide range of high strength, low weight parts.

Not thin enough to be bonded to a surface to produce that 'carbon fiber look' (go for something much thinner) this medium to stiff material is better suited to highly loaded structural applications in marine or aeronautical applications - Getting a bit too thick for making dash board/instrument panels, but now right in the middle of the thickness we would advise for making very good servo chassis or suspension parts in modelling or robotics.  Ideal for backing plates for mounting deck hardware on performance sailboats and powercraft. We use 2mm as standard for backing up fixings on composite panels (bonnet/hood panels, engine covers etc)  For cutting profiles for production parts use a water jet cutter or milling machine but this thickness is still very easy to cut with a hacksaw or as we use - a jigsaw with a 'ceramic use' blade. This material is airtight and water proof - and contrary to urban myth - this is a very tough material and could not be described as brittle in any way.

Technical Laminate Spec  Laminate Profile (Layup Angles referenced to longest dimension):
